How well do you know yourself?
How often do you see yourself? How much do you listen to your inner voice? Close your eyes and try to be in this moment. Feel this moment. Try to be honest with yourself. Which question do you have right now? The answer is always inside of you. When you know the answer open your eyes... This work is a participatory type of work performed using a headphone and audio equipment. The project creates a state of ‘mindfulness’: to one by one let go of the layers we all possess in order to see the core of one another eventually. Inside our head (Nōnai) there’s a lot of information, knowledge and questions. Voices are always there, expressing feelings of anxiety, denial, fear, evaluation and so on. Memories of things that happened in the past which we cannot change anymore, moments of regret. Worrying thoughts about the future which might be unclear. Each of these feelings, experiences and questions put a layer around you, just like a veil.
This piece is about becoming aware of these inner feelings. By listening to the questions inside of the headphones, I want people to increase their self-awareness. I ask my audience to look within themselves and to ‘be’ in the moment. By finding the courage to join this experience, you might rediscover yourself. Whatever happens during these 20 minutes, just try to be yourself. One by one you can shed your layers and find your true core. C R E D I T S :
